Time is of the essence

Well, there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the world to do everything... My boss Mark Kruger and I were talking, and he said something of the sort... "I wish there were only about 10 more hours in the day..." as he chuckled...

Gosh, things sure are crazy at cfwebtools... new business just keeps coming... it's great to have new business, at what point do you slow things down? Do you treat it as though you have unlimited resources and that there are enough developers out there of who you could contract your work out to, and still keep clients happy? What do you guys do? Learning flex, and the crazy flex demand out there...

I have the same issue, work seems to get dropped in my lap, but it's either only full-time clear across the country work, or the client isn't a business... seems like every place you talk to wants a "Flashy" website... but then they bark at the price... I don't let that one get to me at all... there seems to be enough people out there right now more than willing to pay the price... I really wish there were someone else out there (preferably in omaha!) who had the drive that I do for technology and this stuff... I wish we could find another flex developer here in omaha....

I seem to ignore my home life... (not that i really have one of too much significance) but since all of the regular tv series I watch have gone for the summer... I have done NOTHING BUT WORK! I'm really getting worn out, but I know at one point I'll choose to take a break...

Anyway, the whole point of this entry is to let whoever my readers may be... that I'm not dead... I'm just busy... the current project I'm on is the biggest project that I've ever done... and it's close to if not (possibly) the biggest project cfwebtools has ever done... it's pretty innovative, and exciting stuff.

Here is some of the stuff I've learned that I need to still blog about:

  • I won one of the two Flex Builder Giveaway Contests in June for the flex show
  • I have learned a great deal about dynamic form generation in flex, and using the DisplayObject and DisplayObjectContainer Classes, I plan to blog on that once I can put together some code.
  • I also learned how to loop through the forms dynamically in order to save the values to a database... and plan on blogging on that one too.
  • Jimmy Winter of http://www.musicarsenal.com asked me to make www.killtheheart.com a self install site, so he could run it locally at home (email me if you want to test it out for me ;))... so i did, but it's still a pretty rough install... it's down to 10 steps... which isn't too bad considering how clustered it is, and how long the site has been up... it was my second self motivated project ever... and so i've revised it probably 7 times... it's much cleaner now... but everything i've ever done with killtheheart i've used it to learn a new technology... the next thing i plan on doing with it, is converting it to apollo, and using the Model-Glue:Flex Framework...

I'm at home right now, and I have a corner marked off on my white board at work (NOT HERE) for blog ideas... and i've got five or six on there, I'm missing some... it's late, and I'm getting tired... but I will return to the blogging world very soon, I'm going to try to get an entry done (with code, and example) tomorrow morning... (crossing my fingers)
